A lifelong resident of Arkansas, Karla Rush (she/her) retired from a career in higher education administration to focus on health issues attributed to idiopathic intracranial hypertension and fibromyalgia. She worked primarily within the university and community college systems and at Arkansas Department of Corrections. Karla volunteers for her local college foundation, reviews federal grants nationwide, and takes on occasional foster dog projects. She and her husband of 17 years are proud grandparents to six grandchildren and focus on spending time with family or enjoying rural America as much as possible.
Karla joined All of Us with a commitment to the importance of education to facilitate meaningful communication between patients and their health care providers. She credits good relationships and open dialogue with health professionals as key to the surgeries that saved her vision, and she hopes to advocate for patient awareness at any opportunity.
